Direct Pay Permits

The Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P), Yankee Gas Services Company (YGSC) and Northeast Utilities Service Company (NUSCO) have been issued a Direct Payment Permit by the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services (“DRS”) effective August 1, 2003. This permit will allow CL&P, YGSC and NUSCO to pay Connecticut Sales Tax directly to the DRS for certain purchases from their vendors. As a result of this permit, suppliers to these companies should no longer charge Connecticut sales tax for purchases by CL&P, YGSC or NUSCO. Any sales tax identified on CL&P, YGSC and NUSCO invoices dated on or after August 1, 2003 will be adjusted and removed from the invoice when payment is made. If such work was performed prior to August 1, 2003, an invoice must be dated prior to August 1, 2003 for us to pay sales tax to vendors, rather than directly to the state.
