Eligibility, Certification & Registration

Eligibility:

To qualify as a minority- or woman-owned business, your business must be at least 51 percent owned, controlled and operated by one or more of the following: African Americans, Asian Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans or women.

Certification:

We encourage our suppliers to be certified as a minority- or women-owned business. Your firm can have its status verified by qualified certifying agencies such as:

  • The Small Business Administration
  • Affiliates of the Regional Minority Supplier Development Council
  • Federal Government agencies
  • Affiliates of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council
  • The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)

Registration:

All vendors interested in doing business with NU or any of its affiliates should register their company in our eSourcing System. Please note that vendor registration will not guarantee an invitation to bid, or confer preferred vendor status. When you register your company, be sure to include your vendor classification as a diverse supplier, if applicable (e.g., 51 percent owned and daily operated by one or more women, minorities, veterans, disabled veterans or HUB Zoned businesses), or a non-diverse supplier. Any business that knowingly misrepresents its classification can be subject to severe federal penalties.

In addition to registering, please forward an e-mail outlining your company’s products and services, along with a completed Preliminary Request for Information [Word Document: 229kb] to Purchasing@nu.com for review.

We look forward to hearing from you!
