Environmental Stewardship: Protecting Birds of Prey

Protecting the Osprey

OspreyAs New Hampshire’s largest electric utility, NU subsidiary Public Service Company of New Hampshire (PSNH) has long been a partner in osprey recovery.

osprey nestPSNH provides crews and equipment to erect nesting platforms for ospreys. Crews also move nests from potentially dangerous sites near power lines to safer locations.

Nesting structures built and maintained by PSNH are expected to get more and more use as the osprey population grows throughout the state.

A video camera captures live images of osprey activity at a nest at PSNH’s Ayers Island Hydro Plant in New Hampton, NH. Click here to view PSNH’s Ospreys Online website.
